Police: Suspected drunk driver crashes in I-69 construction zone

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A suspected drunk driver who police later determined had six separate arrest warrants, two out of Whitley County, was unable to negotiate a lane split on I-69 Wednesday evening and hit a concrete barrier according to Indiana State Police.

The driver, identified as Jerry Hunt, 51, of Noblesville, was heading north near the 264 mile marker in Grant County just after 7:20 p.m. when he came to the work zone and crashed.

He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released. Police determined he had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit. A check of Hunt’s record revealed he was wanted on six Indiana arrest warrants. Two of the warrants were out of Marion County for larceny. He also had two warrants from Hamilton County for theft and two more from Whitley County for failure to appear (traffic) and battery.

Hunt was arrested for OWI and driving on a suspended license.
