Baby monitors recalled due to burn hazard

GOLETA, CA (WCMH) – Thousands of video baby monitors have been recalled due to batteries that can overheat, swell and create a burning hazard.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects 26,000 Lorex Care ‘N’ Share video baby monitors sold in the United States and 8,000 more in Canada.

The monitors come with a blue lithium polymer battery and measure four inches tall by five inches wide.

They were sold at abies “R” Us, B&H, Best Buy, Target, The Home Depot, Walmart and online at http://www.amazon.com and http://www.lorextechnology.com from May 2013 through April 2016.

There have been 488 reports of batteries overheating and expanding. About 140 of those reports involved the battery pack swelling to the point that the plastic casing came off.

The model numbers included in the recall are WL3520, WL4320 and WL3401.

No injuries were reported.
