IU investigating after reported armed robbery

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana University-Bloomington police are investigating, after a reported armed robbery Friday morning.

According to a release, the armed robbery happened around 4 a.m. in the alley in the 100 block of South Dunn Street. The crime was reported to police at 4:33 a.m.

The victim told police he was walking in an alley when the male suspect approached him. He said the suspect pushed him to the ground and placed a metal object against the back of his head. The victim reported he didn’t see the object but thought it was a firearm. The suspect took cash and a cell phone from the victim before leaving on foot.

The victim has minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

Police described the suspect in a tweet early this morning as an African-American male in his early twenties wearing jeans and a dark colored t-shirt.

There is no word on the suspect at this time.

IU tweeted an alert about the armed robbery around 5:03 a.m.  

IU emergency management tweeted the threat was no longer imminent shortly after.
