Community rallies around Marion church after vandalism, robbery

MARION, Ind. (WISH) — A community in Marion is rallying around a local church hit by vandals several times over the past couple weeks.

In total, 13 windows were broken at the God’s House Center for Success. Two computer were also stolen.

With a back to school event planned for Friday, the church’s afterschool program director said this couldn’t have come at a worse time.

But the community came together to help clean up.

“It’s been amazing to see,” Center for Success director Erika Horner said. “And yesterday was just proof of having people come in and help out because, honestly, I was just expecting to have me and two other people there to clean up with the glass and stuff like that; it was amazing to see people come and help us.”

The back to school event is still on for Friday, and Horner said the church plans to continue its afterschool program this year as well.
