Annual event helps families get kids ready to go Back to School

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Back to school time is quickly approaching!  There is a lot to do before classes start but the annual Back to School Family Day, hosted by Covering Kids & Families of Central Indiana, can help families get ready.

The event will take place this Saturday, July 30th, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Marion County Public Health Department, at 3838 N. Rural St.

Children in attendance receive a backpack with free school supplies and even immunizations and sports physicals. Parents or guardians should bring current shot records as well as an insurance or Medicaid card for any children seeking immunizations.

Health screenings and various types of health information will be available. And, parents can get a copy of their child’s birth certificate for a small fee with proper identification. Not to be missed is the Indianapolis Fire Department, who provides entertainment with its Fire Safety Festival, offering games, food and interactive educational displays.
