INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Mayor’s office made an announcement Monday morning that will affect Carrier employees.

Mayor Joe Hogsett announced the city’s Carrier Task Force will partner with Pete The Planner to host a program for employees affected by the relocation of Carrier’s Indianapolis facility.

The program is, “Your Money Plan.” The free program will be held for four months and will provide each Carrier worker affected and their families resources to begin their financial future.

“We cannot allow one company’s wrongheaded business decisions to negatively impact the long-term financial wellbeing of an entire community,” Mayor Hogsett said. “I am honored that Pete the Planner®, an Indianapolis native himself, wants to aid our community’s hardworking families and help them plan for their future. The program we’ve put together will look at the short and long term effects of Carrier’s announcement and arm these workers, free of charge, with the financial planning resources they need during this difficult period.”

The program will offer three workshops with a financial strategy:

  • Financial triage and address worker’s current financial challenges
  • Opportunities for families to stabilize their income
  • Building block of healthy financial decision making and opportunities for long-term planning

Other topics that will be part of the program include:

  • Benefits continuation
  • Retirement
  • Housing expenses
  • Transportation expenses
  • Education expenses
  • Money and family

The announcement comes after the news that Carrier’s Indianapolis facility will be relocating to Mexico.
