Detectives say 80-year-old caregiver had been dead for a week

GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – An 80-year-old caregiver had been dead for a week before they found his body Monday.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s partners, The Greenfield Reporter, Marion Quilter was found dead in his home in the 1400 block of Coachlite Drive after an Hancock County Senior Services officials did not hear back from him.

Quilter called regularly to schedule transportation for his girlfriend who was mentally disabled.

Police said they went to his home and noticed the doors were locked and mail was overflowing from his mailbox. Once they opened the door, they found Quilter’s body and his girlfriend, Juanita Novicki, 73, wandering the home.

Police are now investigating.
