Outspoken Pence critic addresses Indiana DNC delegation

PHILADELPHIA (WISH) — It’s an emotional last day for the Indiana delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

The delegation was told Thursday morning that a special gust would appear at the group’s breakfast. The guest? Bernie Sanders. But the Vermont senator did not show up.

One of the speakers who did appear at the delegation breakfast was Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy.

Malloy is a frequent and vocal critic of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. He launched the first ban on travel to Indiana during the RFRA crisis, and he accepted a Syrian refugee family when Pence prevented them from settling in Indiana.

Malloy received a warm reception from an Indiana delegation that is also aware he once publicly labeled Pence as a homophobe.

He stopped by the delegation breakfast at the request of the Democratic Governor’s Association because the Indiana governor’s race is now targeted.

Pence is no longer the candidate because he is running for vice president, but Malloy and the rest of the Democrats intend to make Eric Holcomb answer for Pence’s record.

“You know and I know that Mike Pence is not a guy to be vice president of the United States,” Malloy siad. “We shouldn’t let him do to America some of the things he’s done to you.”

You can expect that other Democratic governors will now come to Indiana to assist John Gregg. Malloy’s visit is an example of how Gregg is winning support in Philly even though he remained in Indiana this week, unwilling to leave the campaign trail.
