Avatar-inspired Cirque du Soleil show comes to Indy

What a cool show! The new Cirque du Soleil touring show inspired by James Cameron’s record-breaking movie AVATAR, TORUK – The First Flight, will be presented at Bankers Life Fieldhouse from August 10-14. Today on Indy Style, TORUK Cast member Gabriel Christo and Cirque du Soleil’s Laura Silverman describe the visual elements of the show and how the characters train to really bring it to life.

• Transports you to the world of Pandora in a visually stunning live setting.

• Different than many Cirque shows — still has acrobatic elements, but this show is pushing boundaries in technology and light projection

Gabriel Christo: Gabriel began training in acrobatics at 8 years old and has had an acrobatic career for 20 years. He specializes in gymnastics and trampoline and was studying Physical Education at University before joining Cirque du Soleil. Gabriel was a member of the Brazilian National Elite Team of Trampoline and was discovered by Cirque du Soleil during the Trampoline World Championship in Quebec City in 2007. He joined Cirque du Soleil shortly after and has been with the company for the past 7.5 years. Previously he performed in ZAiA, IRIS, and Corteo, before joining TORUK – The First Flight. Beyond performing, Gabriel loves nature, traveling, the arts, and spending time around people.
