Tennessee man arrested, charged with human trafficking of 12-year-old girl

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Nashville man has been arrested and charged with human trafficking of a missing 12-year-old from Texas.

Tavarie Williams, 36, was taken into custody overnight Friday.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Williams was holding the girl against her will and trafficking her for commercial sex.

The child was reported missing from San Antonio, Texas, in June. Authorities believe Williams enticed her by offering her a ride home, but he wound up bringing her to Tennessee instead.

The TBI received information Friday night about the missing child possibly being in the Nashville area. They eventually located her in the overnight hours at an Extented Stay Hotel in Franklin.

Williams now faces two counts of trafficking for a commercial sex act, which is a class A felony.

He was booked into the Williamson County Jail on $150,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and Williams could face additional charges.

The 12-year-old girl thanked authorities for rescuing her. She is receiving care in state custody and will be transported home to Texas soon.
