Investigation finds Muncie officers’ actions justified in deadly shooting

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana State Police have finished their investigation into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Muncie. 

According to court documents, two Muncie police officers acted in self defense and the shooting was justified under law.

It was on June 4 Larry Stepp was shot at a home on West 18th Street in Muncie.

Police were sent there after hearing a teenager had been stabbed.The officers fired shots at Stepp when he refused to drop his knife and moved toward them.

Stepp later died at the hospital.

The teenager was treated and released.

Those Muncie police officers were both wearing body cameras. That footage hasn’t been released.
