Nearly $2M development project underway in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, Ind (WISH) — A nearly $2 million development project is underway in Greenwood.

Indiana-American Office Parke will be located off of County Line Road on Airport Parkway. Construction is expected to begin next month.

City officials say it’s part of a bigger plan to further develop the area near I-65.

There are many things that propel the Greenwood Airport. Staff is just one of them.

“We have a great personnel that are adequately trained. We go above and beyond, assuring that they are taking care of our customers adequately, as well as aircraft,” said airport manager Lori Curless.

Personnel has helped the airport maintain business, and, according to Curless, development along County Line Road has helped grow business.

“If you go to 2015-2016 our fuel sales are up 77 percent, traffic is up 48 percent,” she added, “That is all indicative of the area.”

That area will soon see more development, practically in their backyard. On Airport Parkway is where the $1.8 million office building is expected to be built.

“The first occupant is going to be Projects Plus Engineering, a local engineering and surveying company,” said Greenwood city engineer Mark Richards.

The new building will be 24,000 square feet and divided into four sections. Four more buildings will be added later on, bringing the total span to about 13 acres.

“It’s good for our airport. It’s good for the city,” Richards said.

Perhaps more importantly, the sky becomes the limit for the local economy.

“As the area grows, the airport grows,” said Curless. “By having those projects close to us, it’s great for not only the airport but Greenwood as a whole.”

County Line Properties owns the land and has finalized agreements with two buyers.
