Women hide syringes inside their vaginal cavities

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) – According to a press release from the Mercer County Sherrif’s County Department, Paige Waterman, 29, and Chelsie Hedge, 21, both of Celina, Ohio were arrested after Mercer County police obtained a body cavity search warrant and removed a syringe from each of their vaginal cavity areas.

On August 1, a Mercer County deputy received a call regarding two females that were on their way to Dayton to purchase drugs, before returning to Mercer County. The caller described the females by name, what they were driving, and advised drugs would be hidden inside their body cavities if they suspected they would get pulled over.

At 10:12 p.m. deputies initiated a stop on the suspect vehicle on Coldwater Creek Road east of St. Anthony Road for an undisclosed traffic infraction.

A canine was requested to the stop, but no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle.

Based on the tip information, deputies applied for and were granted body cavity search warrants. Mercer Health conducted the search, at which point the syringes were found.

Both women were incarcerated at Mercer County Adult Detention Facility on initial charges of possession of drug abuse instruments, a misdemeanor of the second degree. Both women are being held on $100,000 bail, subject to 10%.

Grand Lake Drug Task Force, Celina Police Department, and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office assisted in the search and arrest.

The case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor for review of additional charges.
