Arrest made in connection to east side robbery
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An arrest has been made in connection to an east side robbery of a gas station.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 18-year-old Johnny Anderson has been taken into custody.
The robbery of the Shell gas station located in the 8500 block of East Washington Street happened just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Police said Anderson reportedly entered the station demanding money, while implying that he had a weapon. He then fled the scene in a vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money.
After the robbery, several calls were made by citizens to police with the description of the suspect’s car. A vehicle matching that description was then pulled over by officers. It was at that time that evidence linking the suspect to the robbery was discovered.
After officers at the scene of the robbery conducted a thorough investigation, Anderson was taken into custody. He now faces preliminary charges for robbery, theft and possession of a controlled substance.
