Babysitter charged with child molestation, confinement

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — A babysitter faces charges after allegedly molesting a young girl that she was taking care of.

The Lawrence Police Department conducted the investigation of 47-year-old Marletta Wilcox. According to court documents, Wilcox was babysitting two young girls at a apartment complex in Lawrence in June. The girl’s older sister said she saw the incident, stating that she saw Wilcox was on top of her sister while her sister yelled “sissy sissy help me, call dad, help me.”

The older sister said that Wilcox shut a door in her face when she realized she was able to see what was going on.

Court documents indicate that the older sister used Wilcox’s phone to call her father, but that Wilcox took the phone away, called her a snitch and told the father that the girls were playing with her phone.

The victim told investigators that Wilcox licked her groin area while keeping her from getting up.

Wilcox faces felony charges of child molestation and criminal confinement.

Wilcox turned herself in on Thursday.
