Greenfield man sentenced to 10 years after high speed chase

GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – The driver in a high speed police chase was sentenced to ten years in prison.

According to 24-Hour News 8’s partners, The Greenfield Reporter, Christian Emmons 44 of Greenfield, drove his car through a residential area at speeds reaching more than 100 miles per hour in June.

Emmons attorney asked a judge to be lenient, claiming Emmons suffers from narcolepsy and other medical conditions that cause him to black out while driving.

Emmons was sentenced to 10 years, where he will have medical evaluation and receive treatment. He will also receive credit for the time he’s already served since he was arrested in June.

He pleaded guilty in July to two counts of attempted aggravated battery, after he nearly struck officers trying to stop his car. Emmons was also charged with:

  • Auto theft
  • Resisting law enforcement
  • Operating while intoxicated
  • Reckless driving
