Mayor charged with providing alcohol to minors

STOCKTON (KRON) – Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva was arrested Thursday morning in Amador County on charges of providing alcohol to minors at the youth camp he runs.

Silva is facing misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency or a minor, providing alcohol to a minor and cruelty to a child by endangering health, according to court documents. The mayor is also facing a felony charge of recording confidential communications.

Court documents say the mayor allegedly provided alcohol to at least six minors last summer.

Silva’s attorney Mark Reichel says Silva remains in custody and will plead not guilty to the charges.

The charges came a week after it was discovered that a gun stolen from Silva’s home during a burglary was linked to the killing of a 13-year-old boy in Stockton last year.

Reichel said the 42-year-old Silva had nothing to do with the killing and was simply the victim of a crime when hs gun was taken.

Silva is up for reelection in November.
