Woman seriously hurt after being shot inside pickup truck

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A woman was shot while inside a parked pickup truck on Bowser Avenue in Fort Wayne late Wednesday night.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of Bowser and Rudisill Boulevard shortly before midnight for a reported shooting.

Investigators said the woman was sitting in the passenger seat of the truck when someone approached the door and shot her through the window.

She was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

A man in the driver’s seat was not hurt.

A K-9 officer attempted to track the suspect, but was unable to find anyone.

Law enforcement sources said the shooting may have been the result of a domestic situation. No other details were released by FWPD.

The man in the truck was questioned by police and released from the scene.

Police said the woman was arriving home when the pickup truck stopped in the street near a house on the corner of Bowser and Rudisill.

No arrests have been made.

The incident is under investigation.
