Tennessee officer stands in rain, holds railroad crossing arms for drivers

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) –  A Tennessee police officer went the extra mile Saturday when the railroad crossing arms of an intersection stopped working.

A viewer took a picture of the officer standing in the rain at the intersection of South Greenhill Road and Division Street as he held the railroad arms up to allow traffic to go through.

According to the viewer, he would let several cars through on one side and then run over to the other side and lift the arms so more cars could pass.

A picture of the officer was shared on the Facebook page Hip Mt. Juliet, where it received hundreds of “likes” and dozens of notes of gratitude for the Mt. Juliet officer.
