WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – The city of Westfield announced the new chief for its fire department Monday morning.

After a national search, Marcus Reed was announced as the new fire chief. Reed will replace Joe Lyons who will remain in an administrative role with the Westfield Fire Department.

Mayor Andy Cook said after a careful and thorough search, he has confidence they have made a good decision.

Reeds has a bachelor’s degree and has been a certified EMT-Paramedic for 30 years. He also completed the Fire Service Executive Institute Program, finished two years of the Executive Fire Officer Program and attended the Fire Service Institute at Arizona State University.

“I am confident that Westfield’s vision and principles, combined with my experience and training will produce dramatic success for the department and our community,” Reed said.
