Man crashes car after being shot by carjackers

INDIAPOLIS (WISH) – Just past 3 a.m. Monday, a man parked his 2011 Audi at the Westbury Apartments. Suddenly while he sat in the car he was ambushed by two masked men.

According to police,  the men made demands for the car. When the driver said no, the suspects started shooting.

The victim drove away, and was headed to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital  and when he couldn’t make it, he crashed his car along West 86th Street near Saint Vincent Indianapolis Hospital.

Crews arrived and quickly realized this was much more than an accident. The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Police tried to talk to the victim but he told the officers he couldn’t see.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department didn’t have a lot of clues, but later Monday detectives received a phone call from a man who told police his daughter was with the victim inside the Audi just before the shooting happened.

According to the friend, the victim and her were sitting in the car when a man walked up and opened the car door, and the suspect started firing at the victim. The teenager told police she ran and hid behind a building.

Sources tell 24-Hour News 8 the victim is a man from Indianapolis who recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue a rap career.
