Searchers find body of Evansville teen who fell into creek

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – Searchers have found the body of a 16-year-old Evansville boy who fell into Pigeon Creek while fishing at Garvin Park.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources reported Sunday afternoon that divers had recovered the body of Maurice Blake Gray. Authorities say an autopsy will be scheduled.

The Evansville police received a call Saturday evening, went to the scene and searched the banks downstream of where the teenager fell into the water. The search was called off at dark and resumed Sunday morning.

Agencies helping with the search included the Evansville and Perry Township fire departments, the Evansville Police Department and Indiana Conservation Officers. Side scan sonar and a remote-operated underwater camera helped locate the boy’s body.
