Woman dies after motorcycle crash on I-74

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police say a motorcycle crash on Interstate 74 Monday was fatal.

The crash happened at approximately 10:56 a.m, just east of Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Police said Robert Lake, 64 of Hamilton, Ohio was driving a blue 1998 Harley Davidson with Diane Mullaney, 66 of Fairfield, Ohio on the back seat, when the back tire went flat. The flat tire caused Lake to lose control of the motorcycle. He left the roadway and went into a ditch, causing the motorcycle to eject Lake and Mullaney from their seats.

Lake was transported by an ambulance to a hospital in Crawfordsville, then treated for minor injuries and released.

Mullaney was transported by air to a hospital in Indianapolis for serious injuries from the crash. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said Lake and Mullaney did not use helmets at the time of the crash. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Interstate 74 was closed for approximately one hour due to the crash.
