Bloomington city leaders announce plans to install public safety cameras

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – On Wednesday, Bloomington city leaders announced plans to install the city’s first ever public safety cameras.

During a press conference in downtown Bloomington, Mayor John Hamilton said the focus of the move is public safety.

The announcement comes after the police department has received an increase in the number of complaints about aggressive panhandling.

The cameras will be placed in several area’s including People’s Park, Seminary Park, and up and down the B-Line.
