Finding a sitter has never been easier!

Any parent knows finding the perfect sitter isn’t always easy. Lullaby Sitters can help take the stress and hassle out of the process by connecting parents and babysitters both in person via Speed Sitting events and online. Here’s how it works:

During a Speed Sitting event, parents have the opportunity to meet 10 to 12 babysitters during five-minute interviews. After everyone has met, parents and sitters sharing mutual interest may stay and conduct longer interviews to find the best match. For safety reasons, only Lullaby Sitter members are able to attend Speed Sitting events or review profiles. Registration to become a member can be completed online.

WHY: Parents can have a difficult and time consuming job finding the best babysitter. Locally-based.According to Lullaby Sitters, here are a few questions to help get conversations started, but owners say what is most important is that ALL parties are upfront about expectations. They add, “This is an employer/employee relationship that involves children, our most cherished assets. So upfront convos about expectations and how to manage them are the key to a smooth working relationship.”

Parents to Sitters:

  • What are some of your favorite indoor activities to do with kids?
  • What would your comfort level be if my child wanted to have a friend over for the afternoon or even a sleepover?
  • Are you comfortable with ??? (It’s always a good idea to discuss any special requests or circumstances that the sitter would need to be aware of. For example, are you comfortable with potty training, pets, overnight, etc?)
  • What is one of your proudest moments in child care?
  • What is your current availability? Will this be changing anytime soon? (Don’t forget that some sitters may be in school or have another job outside of childcare!)
  • What certifications do you have?
  • Are you willing to do any light housekeeping? Dishes after children’s meals? Toy clean up before we get home? Be VERY CLEAR as to what “light housekeeping” means to you.
  • Do you have a list of references I may contact?
  • Do you have a copy of your Expanded Criminal History Check?

Sitters to Parents:

  • What days/times are you in need of a Sitter? Is this flexible?
  • Can you walk me through a typical day?
  • What traits do you look for in your ideal Sitter?
  • What are some of the preferred activities you would like your Sitter to do with your kids?
  • Are there any other jobs outside of childcare you would like your Sitter to perform? i.e. Light house cleaning, meal preparation, errands.
  • How would you expect me to discipline your child? i.e. restrictions on toys/electronics, timeouts, etc.
  • Any allergies/medical needs/medications?

Some good questions both parties should consider on how to handle at the very beginning of the process:

  • Payment -Cash, Check, Venmo, QuickPay?
  • Screentime – limit?
  • Will your sitter be driving your children? If so, getting a driving record from the BMV online and understanding of carseats are a good idea.
