Search warrants served at buffet locations across state

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office served search warrants at grill and buffet locations across the state Thursday, but what prompted the investigation is not clear.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the warrants were being “executed in connection with an investigation,” but would not specify locations. MCPO would not confirm the purpose of the investigation.

Teppanyaki Grill & Supreme Buffet’s east side location at Washington Street and Mitthoefer Road had a closed sign posted. Doors at the west side location at 38th Street and Moller Avenue were closed, and witnesses say employees were escorted out and put in a white van Thursday morning. WISH-TV sister station WLFI said Indiana State Police officials were at Teppanyaki’s Lafayette location.

Sources confirmed that both Indianapolis locations were raided as part of a grand jury investigation.

Officials from Marion County were also in Fort Wayne serving a search warrant at Fujiyama Grill and Buffet. Police told potential customers that the restaurant was closed as boxes and bags were carried out of the restaurant.
