Sentencing begins for man who pleaded guilty to murdering jewelry store owner

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The man who pleaded guilty to murdering a 78-year-old man in 2015 will hear his sentence Thursday.

James Caudill admitted to murdering John Turner inside John’s Coin and Jewelry in Austin, Indiana.

Prosecutors said Caudill is facing as many as 85 years in prison.

Police said Caudill and his brother were attempting to rob the jewelry store when the murder happened. His brother is facing charges for theft and assisting a criminal.
