Brownsburg residents cleaning up after tornado

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) –  Just drive around the Rolling Acres neighborhood and you will see toppled trees, clean up crews in the middle of the streets, and many homes without power.

The the storm left behind a pile of destruction in one area in particular, located on Hammon Drive and Warren Lane.

Crews have been working since Tuesday morning to restore power to about 20 homes in the area. Resident like Dan Rhoades spent part of his Tuesday talking with his insurance company, after the storm caused $16,000 to $18,000 worth of damage to his home.

“We also have structural damage to the house, there is a lot of work that will need to be done,” said Rhoades.

A mother and daughter worked side-by-side picking up the branches in their front yard. Contractors walked the streets and went door-to-door looking for those in need of tree trimming services.

“My phone has been ringing off the hook, we’ve been in the neighborhood since sun up,” said Bill Whitley with B &E Tree Service.

Despite the damage residents still found a way to remain positive.

“No major damage, no one was injured just trees and limbs,” said Tammy Hall.
