Celebration of Life service held for Borinstein family

FAIRLAND, Ind. (WISH) — Members of a family that died in a plane crash will be honored at a celebration of life ceremony.

Triton Central High School in Fairland held a ceremony Tuesday evening for Lisa Borinstein and two of her children.

The gym was filled to capacity for the service, additional rows of chairs had to be brought in to accommodate everyone in attendance.

The pastor leading the service described the room of more than a thousand people as a large family gathering.  He also went on to talk about each member of the family killed in the plane crash in Virginia, continuing on to say that each person in the room was better for having known Lisa, Emma and Luke.

A scholarship has been set up for the family’s two surviving sons, Drew and Beau.

The three family members died in a plane crash in Virginia.

52-year-old Lisa Borinstein, 19-year-old Luke Borinstein and 15-year-old Emma Borinstein, all from Shelbyville died in the crash. The pilot was identified as 64-year-old William Hamerstadt of Carmel.

Two more people, 73-year-old Robert Ross of Louisville, Kentucky, and 15-year-old Maren Timmermann of Berlin, Germany also died in the crash.
