New report says treating TSA agents better, may lead to shorter lines at airport

(WISH) – Some Indiana businesses are being targeted for ransomware viruses, and a new report says treating TSA agents better, may lead to shorter lines at the airport.

The starting pay for a TSA agent is about $34,000 a year. They are on the front line in the battle against terrorism but don’t carry a gun. With U.S. airports handling record crowds this summer, airlines and federal lawmakers said they want to improve morale and reduce the unusually high turnover rate among the nation’s TSA screeners.

Lawmakers and aviation experts have offered two solutions:

• Either give airport screeners a raise and improve their employee protections rights
• Or, Turn more airports over to private security firms

In other business headlines, small to medium size businesses in Indiana are being targeted by ransomware.

The Indianapolis Star said increasingly company employees are getting email messages that, if opened, would lock up the computer. The hacker then demands money to free up the data.

Computer experts said that even when companies have protections in place, systems can still be breached so they recommend backing up all information on a cloud server.
