Thieves target Indy car dealership
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Thieves have targeted another local car dealership. The owner at AMS Cars on 10th Street near North Raceway Road said someone got away with a dozen keys and one car.
It happened around 12 a.m. Monday. The owner of AMS Cars said he got a call from his alarm system and found a back window shattered. He said someone threw a brick through the window, went inside to grab keys, and then drove one car off the lot.
“It doesn’t feel good because we all work so hard to make things happen and then all of a sudden someone comes and destroys stuff that you build and it doesn’t feel fair,” said AMS Cars owner, Alex Shapiro.
The case is similar to one 24-Hour News 8 reported on earlier this month.
“They are trying to find an easy way to illegally make money. It feels to me that since I learned about other businesses being taken like that it’s some kind of organized system,” said Shapiro.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are not saying if they believe the cases are connected.
The owner of AMS Cars said he hopes those responsible are found soon. He is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and the recovery of his stolen car.
Shapiro said he is also making security upgrades at his dealership.
