Charter bus bursts into flames on VA highway

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) – A charter bus caught on fire Wednesday morning on I-95 southbound near Chamberlayne Avenue (mile marker 82) in Henrico causing major delays for drivers.

Virginia State Police said  the only person on the bus was the driver and he did not sustain any injuries.

The bus was traveling from New York to Charlotte, North Carolina. Investigators believe the cause of the fire was mechanical and are not ruling it suspicious.

Virginia Department of Transportation said all lanes were reopened around 11:15 a.m.
