Police identify man who beat woman for her purse

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Karia Carver stood in an empty parking lot demanding justice.

In June, Carver suffered a vicious attack for her purse. According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, it started at a Marathon gas station on the 8000 block of East 42nd Street near Franklin Road.

Investigators said 23-year-old Neverean Jackson approached Carver just as she was about to pump gas. He asked Carver if he could pump her gas for two bucks.

When Carver agreed to pay, Jackson turned the table and snatched Carver’s purse. On his way to escape he punched Carver and pushed her to the ground and then he left.

The attack was caught on camera. On Tuesday, IMPD announced charges against Jackson. Once found he is facing a felony charge.

Before charges were announced against Jackson, Carver received threats telling her not to pursue charges; however, on Wednesday she told 24-Hour News 8, that she will not drop charges.

“He needs to get that out of him, robbery stealing and killing robbing is nothing, but karma, that comes back to hit you,” said Carver.

If you have any information on Jackson’s whereabouts you can call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS, or 262-8477.
