The Legends golf tournament comes to French Lick

FRENCH LICK, Ind. (WISH) — A popular golf tournament is returning to Indiana this weekend.

The Legends Tour will return to The Pete Dye Golf Course at French Lick for the fourth annual Legends Championship.

This year’s Legends event will bring a field of 50 Legends division players and eight Legends Honors division players to compete in the 36-hole championship.

The Legends Championship will offer a tournament purse of $325,000 and award nearly $38,000 to the winner. 2014 Champion Laurie Rinker still can’t believe how beautiful the Pete Dye Championship Course is.

“The vistas are amazing. You get out and you can see for a long way,” Rinker said. “The first time I was here I texted my coach and said ‘gosh, this course is really hilly,’ and he was like, ‘there’s no hills in Indiana!’ I said, ‘come to French Lick, you’ll see them’. But you have to think hard on the course, you can’t just go up there and hit a big drive and hope that it’s going to be in play, you kind of (have) to work your way around.”
