Kokomo toddler dies after TV falls on her

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – A Kokomo toddler died after a TV fell on her Thursday, according to police.

Kokomo police said it happened at a home in the 1100 block of South Courtland Avenue around 11 a.m. Thursday.

The 3-year-old’s death appears to be an accident and foul play is not suspected, police said.

Kokomo Police have not released the child’s name.

“Just look at it; they’ve got the swing set, the barbeque and the pool. Their whole world revolves around those kids,” Deloris Wren said about her neighbors, who are now mourning the loss of a little girl.

Wren lives a few doors down from the family. She says she often sees the parents outside playing with their kids. She says the kids are never unsupervised.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, one child dies every two weeks when a television or furniture falls on them.

To protect your kids, the CPSC recommends anchoring your furniture to the wall. They also suggest keeping televisions on low, sturdy stands.

“I feel so bad for them. I just pray that God comforts them and I know he will,” Wren said.

Kokomo police say they are still investigating.
