Bristol Motor Speedway starts transition to world’s largest football stadium

BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) – Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee has started the transformation from a NASCAR track to a gridiron that will hold the world’s largest college football game.

Monday morning, truck after truck made their way into what will now be a stadium for the Battle at Bristol on September 10 featuring the Tennessee Vols and the Virginia Tech Hokies. The processional of work trucks and gravel was led by a Pilot Flying J tanker.

“We have almost 11,000 tons of stone, that approximately 450 truck loads,” said Bristol Motor Speedway Senior Director of Purchasing Adam Rust.

More than 150,000 fans are expected to be in attendance at the game.
