Multiple car crash kills one on the south side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A car crash on the south side injured several people and killed one man Thursday morning.

Police say the crash happened around 8:15 a.m. near the Troy Avenue and Shelby Street intersection.

Multiple cars were involved.

According to the release, when police arrived, they found three people ejected from a white Cadillac SUV.

One man ejected was pronounced dead on the scene. The two other ejected passengers were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police also found two other people not seriously injured in a white Dodge van across the intersection.

After speaking with witnesses, police say the Cadillac was driving at a high rate of speed down Shelby Street. Witnesses said all occupants appeared to be distracted by electronic devices before they crashed into the Dodge van.

The Dodge moved into the intersection after getting a green light and the Cadillac ran a red light and struck the dodge on the passenger side.

Police say there were no obvious signs of intoxication but the crash is still under investigation.
