Kokomo church offers community dinner for those in need

KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – A local church is stepping in to make sure everyone in Kokomo has something to eat for dinner and an air conditioned place to cool off.

Judson Road Christian Church in Kokomo hosted a community dinner Thursday night, about 24 hours after several tornadoes went through town leaving a trail of destruction.

Many people in Kokomo were still without power Thursday night and lost all of the food they had in their refrigerator, that’s why the church opened their doors and provided hot dogs, chips, desserts and refreshments to anyone who needed it.

Leaders at the church say they posted about the event on Facebook and many community members and local businesses stepped in to help by providing food, ice and water.

A group of volunteers also took food on the road. They went door to door in some of the hardest hit neighborhoods and offered meals to those who needed it.
