ISP trooper injured in Jackson Co. crash
JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – An Indiana State Police trooper was injured in a Jackson County crash Friday evening.
According to ISP, Trooper Michael Thiron was responding to a crash on I-65 at mile marker 38 near Crothersville, when his 2013 Dodge Charger was rear-ended by a 2012 Freightliner with a box trailer.
Police said Thiron was traveling northbound on I-65 when he was attempting to change lanes from the shoulder to the media, the location of the previous wreck.
It was at that time that the semi, driven by 30-year-old Patrick Gregory, slammed into Thiron’s vehicle. The collision caused Thiron’s vehicle to be spun into the median, stopping against a cable barrier.
Trooper Thiron was transported to a nearby hospital for possible head injuries. He was treated and released later that night.
The driver of the semi, Gregory, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
