Two arrested in connection to armed robbery of business

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – Two suspects were taken into custody for the Saturday evening armed robbery of a business.

According to the Lawrence Police Department, the armed robbery occurred at the Metro PCS in the 8000 block of Pendleton Pike just before 7 p.m.

Police said two men entered the business, one with a gun, and began demanding money from registers and the safe.

With an undisclosed amount of cash, the two suspects fled the scene, running towards the Churchill Ranch apartment complex.

After responding to the scene, a Lawrence Police Officer noticed someone matching the description of one of the suspects get into a silver Chevy Trailblazer.

Police followed the vehicle as it then exited the complex.  Police soon stopped the Chevy Trailerblazer in the 8000 block of East 42nd Street.

Inside the vehicle, a large amount of cash and a handgun were discovered as well as 19-year-old Charles Williams and 18-year-old Tyrel Bartlett and two juveniles.

Police said Williams and Bartlett matched the descriptions of the suspects in the armed robbery.  Bartlett and Williams both face a preliminary charge of armed robbery.

One of the juveniles faces an unrelated preliminary minor offense while the other juvenile was not initially charged.
