Overdose Lifeline holding community training on use of Narcan, giving away free kits

SEYMOUR, Ind. (WISH) – People outside of law enforcement are being training how to use the life saving drug, Narcan.

In Jackson County, Overdose Lifeline is holding community training sessions and giving out free kits of the overdose reversal drug.

The company said the public training comes after multiple overdoses in a single evening killed one person and sent more than a dozen to the hospital.

ODL provided training and 40 kits of Naloxone to the Seymour Police Department in April with grand funding from the Indiana Attorney General’s office to work with law enforcement and first reponders entities across the state on training and equipping personnel with Naloxone or Narcan.

The training is Monday at the Brooklyn Pizza restaurant on West Second Street. It’s from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
