American Red Cross opening ‘Client Assistance Center’ for Kokomo tornado victims

KOKOMO (WISH) – The American Red Cross will open up a Client Assistance Center for tornado victims in Kokomo Wednesday.

The space will serve as a one stop shop for different kinds of help.

The space will have information on different services The Red Cross provides. There will also be information on financial help.

24-Hour News 8 spoke to storm victims and Red Cross leaders about it.

“If there are people who don’t have insurance, then yes. They are going to need help. Some people have high deductibles, that’s going to very hard,” tornado victim, Daryl Beach said.

“It varies from family to family. It’s really hard to say exactly what they get. It depends on how many children they have, and different levels of damage they sustained from a tornado, and different factors like that,” American Red Cross spokesperson Mark Slusher said.

The center will be in the same building as the storm shelter.

15 people are still using it. The Red Cross isn’t making them leave, but it did have to move supplies to other locations to make room for this new center.
