Study: Adult depression most common, untreated in U.S.

(WISH) – Research shows adult depression is one of the most common and most untreated mental disorders in the United States.

A new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association said there’s a problem with diagnosis and treatment in the U.S.

The study said many who never help never ask for it, while others who show no symptoms are getting treated.

Data in the study showed two thirds of people getting treated did not report any kind of symptoms pointing to depression.

The study’s author said the solution is health care providers need to focus more on matching mental health treatment to patient needs.

Depression can impact appetite, concentration, energy levels, and can cause physical aches and pains.
