INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Friends and family are inviting the public to celebrate the life of Dominique Allen this weekend.
The 15-year-old was murdered two years ago on August 31, 2014. Her body was found burned from the waist down behind a Haughville home.
Last year, her family and friends marked the anniversary with a balloon release.
Since then, her convicted killer, William Gholston has been sentenced to 84 years in prison.
Now her family wants to turn their purpose to wiping out crime in the community.
“We’re giving the kids, our teens in the community, a place that they can go to and a place to where if they miss Dominique or a loved one or anyone, it’s a place they can go to where they can get a little comfort,” Dominique’s sister Mareeka Allen said.
The event is Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Haughville Park near Michigan Street and Bellview Place in Indianapolis.
