Indiana pizza delivery driver fired for ‘inappropriate’ texts to customers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Gross. Creepy. Inappropriate. Those are some of the words Jennifer Frazier used to describe text messages a Papa John’s pizza delivery guy sent to her 15-year-old daughter.

“Even her friends don’t call her ‘hun,’ especially not an adult male. It’s gross. The kissy face? That was terrible,” Frazier said.

The driver dropped off the pizza Wednesday night and then claimed he accidentally “butt dialed” the teen’s number. That’s when he started texting her.

“I’m thinking he has our address and he could come here. We were really concerned about that,” Frazier said.

She called the West Jefferson Papa John’s store, which is where the driver worked, and talked to the manager.

“I told her what happened and she said, ‘Oh. He does that.’ I said, ‘He does that!? How does he have a job!?’ She said they would address it when he got back,” Frazier said. “Because they said it happened before and that was typical behavior for him, that’s why I took it up the chain.”

She called the corporate offices and Thursday night got a voice mail from a regional manager apologizing for the incident and saying the driver was being fired.

“I appreciated his apology and that’s all I wanted, for them to say this is inappropriate,” Frazier said.

The owner of the Papa John’s franchise also sent 15 Finds Out the following statement:

The privacy of our customers and employees is extremely important to us. Papa John’s has taken appropriate disciplinary action and terminated the employee involved. We have since reached out to the affected family to resolve this incident and make it right.”

WANE-TV posted the texts to Frazier’s daughter on Facebook and another woman sent in texts she received from the same driver in May.
