The Film Yap reviews “The Light Between Oceans,” “Morgan,” and more!

The summer movie season is coming to an end, and this week’s smaller releases prove it.  The Film Yap’s Christopher Lloyd shares his take on what’s new in theaters this weekend and what to catch at home!

The Light Between Oceans – “An old-fashioned four-hanky weepie, this romantic drama takes the time to build the emotional world of its characters. Starring Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander.

Equity – “Anna Gunn plays an ambitious Wall Street whiz who’s willing to cut a lot of corners to make the big score. A look at financial corruption through the eyes of mostly female characters.”

A Tale of Love and Darkness – “Natalie Portman plays a mother raising a son in the early days of the state of Israel in this historical drama.”

Morgan – “In this sci-fi thriller, Kate Mara plays a corporate honcho who must decide whether or not to terminate the life of an artificially created girl.”

The 9th Life of Louis Drax – “This supernatural whodunit is about a boy who’s in a coma after falling into a lake but uses his mind to send clues about what really happened.”

The Jungle Book – “Disney’s old animated flick is improved upon by this live-action version with cool CGI critters and a pared-down music set. Stream It.”
