NHRA driver shows support for Trump

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — There’a an interesting paint job on a car at the NHRA races this weekend.

Clint Thompson from Oregon is showing support for Donald Trump on his race car.

He debuted it in May, along with T-shirts that say “Racers for Trump.”

He says he races because it’s a passion, and he supports Trump because he believes he’s the best candidate to make America great again.

“We do it (race) because we love it, and we’re doing the Donald Trump thing because we love our country and we think that’s what needs to happen,” Thompson explained.

All of the shirts sell for a $20 contribution to the Trump campaign.

Thompson says he’s raised about $6,000 through the effort.

Qualifying for the NHRA US Nationals runs through Sunday at Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg. The finals take place Monday.
