Indianapolis man dies after medical emergency on Vermont trail
PERU, Vt. (AP) – A hiker from Indianapolis has died following an apparent medical emergency on a Vermont hiking trail.
Emergency responders were called to a shelter along the Long Trail on Sunday in the town of Peru.
State police say 57-year-old Michael Keethers had taken ill and become unresponsive.
Authorities say resuscitation efforts failed, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police continue to investigate.
