Department of Business and Neighborhood Services hosts open house

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The newly formed Department of Business and Neighborhood Services hosted a “State of the Department” open house Wednesday evening as a way for the public to learn about the new department.

The open house was held at The Platform on East Market Street.

The Department of Business and Neighborhood Services was formerly known as the Department of Code Enforcement and has now combined with Indianapolis Animal Care Services.

The goal of this new department is to protect and improve the quality of life for people and animals in the city.

The deputy director of the department, Jason Larrison, says people who might have been frustrated before with city departments like the Mayor’s Action Center or others, should know they can voice their concerns, and ideas for the city to BNS.

“Give us a chance to prove that we’re not just same old same old,” said Larrison. “We have new initiatives inside, we have new drive within us to make sure that we are committed to neighborhoods, to our citizens, to animal welfare, to make sure that we are making improvements to the quality of life in Indianapolis.”
