KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) – Tornado victims in Kokomo are not going to get financial help from the federal government.
The Howard County Emergency Management Agency said the damage done does not meet the criteria to get victim’s assistance from the federal government.
Howard County’s EMA Director said since there isn’t enough damage to get federals, the county is not going to apply.
Even with homes destroyed, there are still wasn’t enough damage or enough uninsured people needing help.
However, there are still several organizations ready to offer support where needed.
Even though the Howard County EMA will not apply for victim’s assistance, there’s a chance that it will apply for public assistance. That money would give the county money to help police, non-profits and other groups that had extra expenses because of the tornado.
Howard County EMA officials are expected to meet with the Indiana Homeland Security sometime Thursday.
